North Bay Legion Track Club

History

The North Bay Legion Track Club has been meeting the needs of our city for over 39 years.  Many athletes have matured through our program and some have gone on to represent Canada on the world stage.

Our highest honours include France Gareau who medaled at the 1984 Olympic Games.  More recently, Greg Baril-Kenney Marcus Popp, Dan Ralph, Trista Bernier, Murray Hale and Brian Risk have been members of national teams.

The Staff

The track and field camps are instructed by a team of experienced men and women under the direction of Stacy Sheremeta who is returning for her 5th year with the club and 4rd year as the Program Coordinator.

About the Camps

The Track and Field camps will be one-week sessions during the month of July and are open to youth aged 8-18. The camps are designed to provide each participant with the opportunity to develop the essential physical qualities to run, jump and throw as effectively as possible.

Each session will involve skill progressions in a variety of track and field events, with an emphasis on fun.  The environment is supportive of individual differences, as we encourage all to participate!

Participants are encouraged to attend more than one session.

Again This Year

In order to help develop the ability of our local athletes, we are offering training time for teens aged 13 – 18 in event specific categories.  It is our hope that this will promote the athletics within the community.  Specific groups will be made according to demand and ability of those who enrol.

Summer Camp Schedule 2008France Gareau receives baton and heads to win the silver medal at the 84 Olympics.
