Revised SS will host a sport psychology workshop on Saturday, September 22, 2012.  This day-long event will be of interest to coaches from all sports.  Coaches will learn how to structure and implement a mental training program into their season.  This program will provide tools to assist in getting athletes to access their full potential on game day. 

The workshop presenter is Brian Risk.  Coach Risk is a school teacher in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. His athletic experience includes the decathlon, pole vaulting, hockey, tennis, football, volleyball, and basketball. He was the National Pole Vault Chair for Canada from 1997 to 2001 and is fully certified at Level 5 by the National Coaching and Certification Program. Additional certifications include Sprints/Hurdles, Throws, Trampoline, and Gymnastics. He has coached or conducted camps, clinics, and seminars at numerous sites around the world including Canada, United States, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sri Lanka, Africa, and more. He has served as a National Team Coach and Head Coach on fourteen National Teams including an Observer Coach on the 1996 Olympic Team. Coach Risk is also a freelance journalist to 8 international magazines worldwide.  His athletes have medalled at local, regional, provincial, national and international competitions. 

Workshop participants will work with other coaches to develop effective strategies in goal-setting, focusing, countdown strategies, anxiety control, visualization, momentum shifts, emotional control and more.  All participants will get a copy of Brian Risk's new book, Periodized Sport Psychology - Building the Bulletproof Athlete.
