Artist Bio
Karen Cooper is a Canadian artist who works primarily in watercolour.
Her introduction to art and design began at an early age when, as a young child, she would sit and draw by her father (an architect and artist) while he worked at his drafting table. Following university, she decided to turn art into a profession and after apprenticing with some Toronto artists, she became an accomplished architectural illustrator. Between rendering contracts, she would work on her fine art and has shown in numerous galleries.
Several years ago, she decided on a career change and became a teacher, but continues to paint, using her children and her scenic surroundings as constant inspiration. A show is planned for this coming January, 2007 at the WKP Kennedy Gallery. Karen also teaches individual and small group watercolour classes.
"Painting is a very relaxing activity for me. It is also very satisfying to find an inspirational subject, interpret it, and produce a final product that others find pleasing. I love it and enjoy sharing that experience with others!"
